FOA membership meeting reset

The Friends of the Arts has postponed its membership meeting to Oct. 21, at the Canton Chinese Restaurant, across from the Mobil/McDonald’s in Garapan. The meeting will include a delicious Chinese buffet and musical and thespian entertainment. (PR)

Library Association Fundraiser Oct. 17

The Commonwealth Association of Archives, Libraries and Museums is still selling tickets for its fundraising event on Oct. 17, 2014 at the Pacific Islands Club, 6pm to 9pm. Funds raised will go toward defraying the cost of attending the 24th annual Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives and Museums Conference, on Nov. 10 – 15 in Koror, Palau.  Participation in this event will allow CNMI librarians to collaborate and establish networks with colleagues throughout Micronesia.  For tickets or questions regarding the fundraiser, contact Greg Sablan at 237-6798 or gregorio.sablan@marianas.edu, Erlinda Naputi at 235-7322 or ecnaputi@gmail.com. Free screening of new documentary

Voices of the Marianas will be screening a new documentary about the making of an improvisational play. Titled What We Really Think, the documentary is directed by Barbara Sher and features Marianas High School students as the cast and Galvin Deleon Guerrero as the videographer. The documentary will be shown at the American Memorial Park on Oct. 17, at 7pm. It’s free and open to the public. (PR)

SDA School to host bowling tournament

The Saipan SDA School will be hosting its first Bowling Tournament on Oct. 19, 2014, at the Saipan Bowling Center at J’s Restaurant. There will be cash prizes of $120 for first place; $100 for second place; and $80 for third place. Registration starts at 1pm; games start at 1:30pm. Tickets cost $15. Survivors, caregivers support group meeting on Oct. 16

All people facing cancer, their family members, and caregivers are invited to the next Commonwealth Cancer Association monthly support meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, starting at 5:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Chamolinian Room.
