Chamber meeting today
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will have its next general membership meeting today, Oct. 1, at 11:30am, at the Seaside Hall of Kanoa Resort. Meeting will begin at noon. Guest speakers will be Andrew Bonney, SRVP Planning for Cape Air, and Jim Wolf, Sustainability Director. Bonney is flying out from Boston to address the membership. Luncheon cost for SCC members if $20; non-members pay $30. (SCC)
PSS execs on John Gonzales LIVE today
The John Gonzales LIVE show will air live today, Oct. 1, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on TV Channel 14, with the topic, “House Legislative Initiative 18-12 to increase PSS guaranteed funding level to 25 percent.” Guests include Education Commissioner Rita A. Sablan, Ed.D., PSS Associate Commissioner for Instructions Jackie A. Quitugua, and Board of Education members.

MHS sets Q1 Mid-Progress Report Open House

Family grief support meeting on Oct. 2
A group that is in the process of forming a Compassionate Friends chapter on Saipan will be holding their monthly grief support meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 6pm to 7:30pm, in the NMPASI conference room on Middle Road, in Gualo Rai. The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others to be supportive. Marines training at Warning Area 517
The U.S. Marines will conduct training at Warning Area 517 Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 from 9am to noon. The general public especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear of the area during the times and dates indicated. W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprised of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. (PR)
