Kantan Isla today
The Kantan Isla Music Festival will be held today, Nov. 17, at the Garapan Fishing Base, from 5pm to 11pm. For additional information, call CCA at 322-9982. There would be a raffle drawing and incentives for participating individuals. Ten vendor slots are open for non-profit organizations, families, and churches that want to raise funds. The council will be providing tents but a $25 park and recreation fee is required.
Las Vegas Night tomorrow
The 2017 Rotary Club of Saipan’s Las Vegas Night tomorrow, Nov. 18, at the Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall, from 6pm to 12pm. This year the Rotary Club of Saipan will make a donation to the Rotary Club of Las Vegas Nevada to help those in this year’s mass shootings. Each ticket is $5 or get five tickets for $20. VA benefits counselor to visit Saipan in Dec.
A U.S. Department of Veterans Benefits Administration benefits counselor will be at the Saipan VA Outreach Clinic on Dec. 15, 2017, from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The benefits counselor will be available to answer benefits questions, and assist with the claim process. The Saipan VA Outreach Clinic is located at the MH II Bldg. Marriage Encounter Weekend today until Sunday
The CNMI Marriage Encounter Weekend will take place at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan starting today, Nov. 17, until Sunday, Nov. 19 2017. It is open to husband and wife couples of all denominations and mixed faiths. There is a non-refundable application fee of $100. Power outage in Garapan tomorrow
There will be a scheduled power interruption tomorrow, Nov. 18, from 5am to 10am, along Beach Road in Garapan. Areas to be affected are Feeder 2 (2″ Partial): Beach Road, Garapan (Fishing Base to Smiling Cove Marina), Dama Di Noche St., Mapola St., Kadena Di Amor St., McDonald’s/Mobil gas station, TSL Plaza building, Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Wild Bills, IHOP, Ajisen Ramen, Coconut St., Coffee Tree Mall, Ginger Ave., Coral Tree Ave., Date St., Paseo de Marianas, Palm St., and Plumeria Ave. No water well will be affected and only the S5 sewer lift station will be affected. The traffic light near Bank of Guam intersection will be affected. (CUC)
Church 360 activities for Thanksgiving
Church 360 will be holding several activities to celebrate Thanksgiving. All events are open to the community. This Sunday, Nov. 19, will be a Thanksgiving Service at 10:15am, with a potluck to follow. The church is providing the turkey and ham. On Thanksgiving Day, Church 360 will hold a Praise Service at 6pm. There will be a game time to follow for any one who would like to stay. Both of these events will be held at Church 360 on the fourth floor of the Marianas Business Plaza.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, Church 360 will host a six-vs-six volleyball tournament at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Beach Courts starting at 2pm. Teams can be formed ahead of time or at the court. Participants and spectators are asked to bring a chair. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Holiday closures at AMP
American Memorial Park officials would like to inform the public that the Visitor Center will be closed in observance of the following federal holidays:
– Nov. 23, 2017: Thanksgiving Day
– Dec. 25, 2017: Christmas Day
– Jan. 1, 2018: New Year’s Day
On these days, the rest of the park will remain open. Park staff would like to encourage the public to explore the Visitor Center. With the exception of the holidays, the visitor center is open every day from 9am to 5pm.

Military training at FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military is conducting training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla until tomorrow, Nov. 18, from 10am to 11:59pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)
