Free water bottles

The CNMI government will be giving out drinkable five-gallon water bottles today, Nov. 15, at the San Antonio basketball court, from 10am to 11am; at the Koblerville Youth Center, from 12pm to 1pm; and at Dandan Middle School, from 2pm to 3pm. There is a limit of one five-gallon water bottle per family. The bottles will be filled with potable water. (PR)

Bank of Guam Thanksgiving hours

Bank of Guam announces the following holiday hours for Thanksgiving:

• Nov. 21, Wednesday: Closed at 3pm

• Nov. 22, Thursday: Closed

• Nov. 23, Friday: Closed

• Nov. 24, Saturday: Saturday branches open regular hours

Guam language commission meeting set

The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ i Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of the History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold its monthly meeting to Nov. 20, 2018, Tuesday, from 12:3pm to 3pm, at the Garden House (former Guam Museum) in the Plaza de Espana, Hagåtña. ATF to training at former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course

ASAN, Guam—The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will conduct training from 8am to 5pm on Nov. 15 at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course in Barrigada, also known as Radio Barrigada.

This type of exercise allows for the use of blanks. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. (PR)

UOG seeks noms for Palulap Award

The Faculty Senate of the University of Guam is accepting nominations for the Palulap Medallion Award. The Palulap Award is presented to a member of the community of Guam who has made extraordinary contributions to the protection and promotion of the fundamental academic principles of the University of Guam, including academic freedom, institutional integrity, institutional and individual autonomy, and shared academic governance.

The award includes a medallion and plaque, each engraved with a figure of Palulap, the legendary Micronesian navigator.
 Nominations are solicited annually, although the award is only granted when a nominee unequivocally meets the award criteria. 
The deadline to submit nominations is 5pm on Friday, Feb. 15.
