CCA board meeting on May 17
The Commonwealth Cancer Association’s Board of Directors will be holding its regular Board of Directors meeting on May 17, 3pm at the CCA Conference Room. Survivors and caregivers support meeting on May 12
All people facing cancer, their family members, and caregivers are invited to the next Commonwealth Cancer Association monthly support meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 12, 5:30pm at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Chamolinian Room.

MINA’s Green Gala rescheduled to Sept. 2
The Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance has announced that its signature fundraising event, the Green Gala, has been rescheduled from May 27, 2016 to Sept. 2, 2016. Those who have already purchased tickets can still use the tickets for the rescheduled event in September. For those who would like a refund of their purchased ticket, please contact the MINA office at 233-7333.
For over a decade, MINA has worked to become a leading conservation nonprofit organization in the Mariana Islands and throughout Micronesia through successful projects such as Tasi Watch, the Marine Debris and Adopt-A-Bin Programs, along with Schools for Environmental Conservation, the Plastic Bag Challenge, and the Managaha Sanctuary Pride Campaign.
In addition to great entertainment, dinner, and a variety of beverages, the Green Gala will feature highlights from MINA’s projects and a silent auction. Previous galas have sold out due to the event’s popularity. It promises to be a memorable evening. (PR)
Ukulele lessons at JKPL
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is now accepting registrants for its beginners ukulele class, to be held every Thursday from 4pm to 5pm. Classes, with Larry Lee as instructor, begins on May 12.
Classes will be held at the JKPL Children of Homeland Library and is open to children age eight years old or older and adults. The tuition is $50 for eight hours.
Deadline to register is on Saturday, May 7, with a minimum enrolment of 15 students and maximum of 40. This is a first come, first pay basis.
Students must also provide their own ukulele and a folder to hold their music sheets. Plastic sheet protectors and a three-ring binder are also recommended.
Parents and guardians must also sign a liability waiver form on behalf of their children, where they must adhere to public library policies and procedures.

KagES now accepting kindergarten registration
Kagman Elementary School is now accepting new application for kindergarten for school year 2016-2017. Registration for kindergarten has started on April 11 and will end on May 13, 2016. Kindergarten registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please come to KagES main office from 8:30am to 3:30pm to register your child.
The following documents are needed to complete the student registration process:
• Complete Registration Form (required)
• Student Health Certificate (original/required)
• Legal Guardianship/Power of Attorney (if applicable)
Please note: Any child may be admitted to kindergarten at the beginning of a school year if the child’s 5th birthday occurs on or before Sept. 30 of the school year for which the application is made. (PR)
