Precinct 2 forum on Wednesday

The “Our Sense of Place” forum, hosted by Precinct 2 Rep. Tina Sablan, is set for Wednesday, March 6, at WSR Elementary School cafeteria, starting at 5:30pm.

This free public forum is a follow-up to the meeting Sablan held last October, and will include a presentation of interactive maps developed for the precinct, and a summary of valued places and concerns highlighted by community members. This week, participants will be asked to help prioritize the issues they see as important for restoring and revitalizing their villages.

Military trainings set

ASAN, Guam—Military units participating in COPE North 2019 will conduct training from 8am to 7pm on March 4-8 at the island of Farallon de Medinilla.

Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit will conduct training at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course in Barrigada during the following dates and times: 

– Noon to 11:55pm, March 4

– Noon to 4pm, March 5-18 

The Navy will also conduct an open-ocean, live-fire gunnery exercise from 10am to 11:55pm on March 7. 

Military units participating in Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training 2019 will conduct training from midnight to 11:59pm, March 7-10, at Warning Area 517. 

It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island.

The public should be advised that routine helicopter training often accompanied with the use of blanks can occur during training at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course.

The open-ocean exercise will take place within a 10-nautical mile radius of the following coordinates: 13° 26″N/145° 08″E, 13° 42″N/144° 36″E. It is recommended the public, commercial pilots, fishermen and marine tour operators stay clear from this area during the dates and times indicated.

Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks will be open for public use. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles and laser exercises.

These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. (PR)

PH consulate holds outreach on Saipan

The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, in coordination with Philippine Honorary Consul to CNMI Glicerio Arago, is conducting a consular outreach mission on Saipan until March 5, from 8am to 4pm, at the Kristo Rai Parish in Garapan.

Biometrics and personal data capturing for ePassport applications will be done according to schedule. All ePassport applicants are reminded to check the list so that they are aware of their respective schedules.

Those who are on the list of ePassport applicants are reminded to:

• show up at the venue on the date and time indicated in the schedule; and

• wear proper attire (i.e. with collar and sleeves)

For consular services, including passport renewal, that require civil registration documents (e.g. birth certificate and marriage certificate), documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority or from former National Statistics Office will be accepted.

Note that personal appearance is required for all ePassport applications.
