Landfill, transfer station closed on Good Friday
In observance of Good Friday, both the Lower Base transfer station and the Marpi landfill will be closed all day on Friday, March 30, 2018. Regular operations will resume on Saturday, March 31, 2018. (PR)
Flags flown at half-staff
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres signed a proclamation last March 22, directing that all CNMI and U.S. flags in the CNMI be lowered to half-staff in respect for the passing of former senator Ramon “Kumoi” Santos Deleon Guerrero.
“As a mark of respect for the life and service of the late…Deleon Guerrero, I hereby order that the flag of the Commonwealth, together with the flag of the United States, shall be flown at half-staff at the Juan Atalig Sablan Memorial Building and upon all public buildings, instrumentalities, and grounds until the day of his interment.” (PR)
Candidates to appear on radio show
All candidates running for public office will be given equal air time regardless of party affiliation on the Marianas Agupa radio talk show from May 2018 to Sept. 30, 2018.

Military training at Farallon de Medinilla, Warning Area 517
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla on March 27, from 8am to 11:59pm. The U.S. military will also conduct training at Warning Area 517 until April 1 from 8am to 5pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators to monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island.
W-517 is activated south of latitude 12° 40’ 00”N. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks are open for public use. (PR)
Islandwide cleanup on April 20
The Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality’s Cleanup Brigade will be joining the 2018 Environmental Awareness Month Islandwide Cleanup on Friday, April 20, from 3pm to 4:30pm and Saturday, April 21, from 8am to 10am. Military training in Guam, FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military is conducting training at Naval Base Guam and the island of Farallon de Medinilla until March 29, from noon to 11pm. Residents in the area can expect to hear an increase in Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 traffic as part of this training. These trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. The general location of the training on the islands of Guam and Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of each island. (PR)
