Mahi-mahi Fishing Derby set

The Saipan Fishermen’s Association will hold the 15th Annual Mahi-mahi Fishing Derby on Mar. 30, 2019.  Prizes will include $1,000 cash for first place, with remaining placement prizes to be announced.  The registration fee is $100 per boat, including one captain and one angler, and $10 for each additional angler. For more information, contact Marianas Visitors Authority community projects specialist Ray Villagomez at 1 (670) 664-3200/01 or rvillagomez@mymarianas.com. KHS Senior Parents’ Night

KHS announces the Annual Senior Parents’ Night on March 21, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the KHS cafeteria.  All seniors and their parents are expected to attend. The agenda will include:

– NMC presents
– Progress report distribution for seniors (PR)

Free probate workshops on Rota

Micronesian Legal Services Corp. will present probate workshops No. 2 and No. 3 on Rota today, March 21, 2019 starting at 1:30pm at the Sinapalo Youth Center. The sessions are free and open to the public. (PR)

Weightlifting competition on Saipan

CNMI Weightlifting will hold a weightlifting competition on Saipan on May 18, 2019, at a time and place to be announced later. (PR)

Class of 1981 reunion meeting

Attention to all Marianas High School Class of 1981 and off-island graduate(s) in Guam and the U.S. mainland that there will be a 1981 class reunion meeting today, March 21, 2019, starting at 6pm at the Tech-NIC Computer above Sherwin Paint across Bank of Hawaii on Middle Road. (PR)

Military trainings at FDM, former golf course 

ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, and U.S. Air Force is conducting trainings at the island of Farallon de Medinilla until March 23, from 8am to 10pm
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 is also conducting combat search-and-rescue training until March 21, from 5pm to 11pm, at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course in Barrigada 
It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. It is also recommended the public, commercial pilots, fishermen and marine tour operators stay clear from these areas during the dates and times indicated.
These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island.
The public should be advised that routine helicopter training often accompanied with the use of blanks can occur during training at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course. (PR)

Ladies’ Night at the library

In honor of Women’s Month, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library invites all women and their families to a free Ladies’ Night tomorrow, March 22, 2019, from 5pm to 7pm.
There will be many fun activities provided, such as a Zumba class, a smoothie bar, raffle prizes for women, art demonstrations, and more.
The Ladies’ Night is designed to celebrate women and all they do for the community and families, as well as provide a place where women can relax, enjoy activities, and socialize. (PR)
