SHEFA now accepting applications
For all new, ongoing and returning applicants: The Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance program is now accepting applications for fall 2017. Application deadline is July 3, 2017, and deadline to submit all supporting documents is Sept. 30, 2017. Application and checklist can be downloaded from www.saipanshefa.net. SSHS registration
Saipan Southern High School is now accepting registration for new and returning students for school year 2017-2018. Come to our main office and pick up registration forms. All requirements must be turned in. Call 664-4000/2 for any other information. (PR)
Military training at Warning Area 517, FDM
The U.S. military will conduct training at W-517 today, June 16, from 9am to 3pm. The military will also conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla today, June 16, from 9:30am to 11pm, and tomorrow, June 17, from 10am to 11pm
The public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear of the areas during the dates and times indicated.
W-517 is activated south of latitude 12° 40’ 00″N. All vessels are advised to remain clear of W-517 south of latitude 12° 40’ 00″N. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank are open for public use. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)
KHS registration
All parents and guardians of Kagman High School students are being informed that KHS is open for enrollment and accepting registrations all summer. It is ideal to get your registration submitted ASAP to get your child scheduled in the optimum classes they need to graduate! So far we have received less than 150 registrations from returning students. We have also received very few registration forms from incoming freshmen! VA benefits counselor to visit Saipan
The U.S. Department of Veterans Benefits Administration will be visiting Saipan. A VA benefits counselor will be at the Saipan VA outreach clinic on June 28, 2017, from 9:30am to 3:30pm, to answer benefits questions, and assist with the claim process. The Saipan VA outreach clinic is located at the MH II Building, Suite 206, Marina Heights Business Park in Garapan. To request an appointment, contact Ruth Coleman at 322-0035. (PR)
Comments sought on marine monument
The U.S. Department of the Interior secretary has been tasked by President Donald Trump under Executive Order 13792, issued on April 25, 2017, to conduct a review of national monuments. Public comments are being sought regarding the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument. Deadline for comments is due July 10, 2017. CDAC records to be destroyed
The Public School System Early Intervention Program would like to inform parents of infants and toddlers who received Early Intervention Services at the Children’s Developmental Assistance Center from 2009 to 2012 that your child’s records are no longer needed by the program and will be destroyed in a manner that ensures all personal identifiers are removed from the record and the record is no longer personally identifiable. The Early Intervention Program will maintain indefinitely a permanent record of your child’s name, address, phone numbers, entry date, exit date, and eligibility information.
