Writers’ workshop tomorrow at JKPL
Walt F.J. Goodridge will be leading a writers’ workshop tomorrow, June 15, 2019, from 9am to 12pm, at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s video teleconference room. Admission is $10 in advance, and $12 at the door ($5 for students with ID). Twenty percent of admission proceeds will be donated directly to the library on the day of the event. Seating is limited. 36th Agricultural Fair on July 27
The 36th Agricultural Fair is happening on on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the Garapan Central Park, from 8amto 2pm.
This event is intended for farmers and ranchers to once again showcase the fruits of their hard work. This is free and open to the public.

Free family movie nights this summer
This summer, Saipan Vegas invites the community to join them for free Outdoor Family Movie Night with free popcorn and drinks every Friday at the Saipan Vegas Golf Course for the school holidays.
The launch of the movie night will be this Friday, June 14, from 6pm to 9pm. The event will feature an entertainment at 6:30pm by Saipan Studio 29:11 Dance Group and a magic performance by Neil Fama before the screening of the Aquaman movie at 7pm.
“We are aware that many families [on] Saipan are still having a tough time since [Super] Typhoon Yutu, and these are trying times for many, so we would like to give families [on] Saipan a chance to have fun family night together,” said Gus Noble, MP Holdings consultant.
Movie nights are open to all ages and they should bring their own chairs or mats. (PR)
SHRM meeting to tackle EQ in the workplace
The Society for Human Resource Management-NMI Chapter invites the public to its general membership meeting on June 20, 2019, at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s beginning at 11am.
The meeting will feature University of Guam’s Dr. John Rivera discussing emotional intelligence in the workplace.

Weightlifting contest moved to July 27
The 2019 CNMI Weightlifting Championship has been rescheduled and will be held on July 27, a Saturday, at the Minachom Attao pavilion in Susupe, starting at 10am.
Registration deadline is noon of June 25, 2019, to be delivered to Greg Borja or Jeanne Rayphand at the Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc. office in Gualo Rai. Entry fee is $10, while the admission fee is $5.

Walk of honor to mark 75 years since ‘Battles’
Today, June 14, the Committee for the 75th Anniversary of the Battles for Saipan and Tinian invites the community to a Walk of Honor on the eve of Saipan’s Invasion Day to remember the sacrifices made by so many 75 years ago. Participants will be provided an LED candle (adults) or glow-in-the-dark bracelet (youth).
Registration will begin at 5:30pm at the Veterans Memorial at Kilili Beach, followed by a brief program at 6pm, and the walk at 6:30pm. Walkers will head north along the Froilan C. Tenorio Beach Road Pathway and turn around at the Japanese tank at Quartermaster Road. Along the way there will be water stops and activity stations. The winners of the Memorial Day poetry, art, and wreath competitions will have their work on display.

JIL Saipan marks 22nd anniversary
The Jesus is Lord Church Saipan is celebrating its 22nd Anniversary on June 16, 2019, starting at 4pm, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, with a theme “Proclaiming Jesus is Lord.” This year’s guest speaker will be Pastor Abigail Corpuz, Area Pastor of Area 5, JIL West USA supervising Hawaii, Saipan and Guam.
