Release of PH passports announced
The Philippine Consulate General in Guam, in coordination with the Office of Honorary Consul Eli Arago, has announced the release of Philippine passports to those who renewed their passports on May 21, 22, and 23, 2018. You can pick up your passports at Finasisu Terraces Apartment Bldg D, 2nd Floor, top of the Mini-Mart Store, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (12pm-1pm break time).

Saipan Agricultural Fair on Aug. 4
Saipan Agricultural Fair Association is pleased to inform the community that the 35th Saipan Agricultural Fair will take place on Aug. 4, 2018, 9am-2pm at the Civic Center, Susupe.

Rule book and pre-registration forms (fees apply) for the adult plant and animal competitions are available at the Department of Lands Natural Resources offices in Kagman and Lower Base, Office of Animal Health Services, the Garapan Public Market, and Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research and Extension Education Services, Building F. Rule Book and Pre-registration forms for the Youth Division are available at the NMC-CREES Main Office, Building F.

Deadline to submit the pre-registration forms is July 20, 2018. Proclamation signing for this event is on July 30, 2018 at 10am at the Governor’s Office Conference Room, Capital Hill. Farmers, ranchers, and the general public are encouraged to attend.

Survivors & caregivers support meeting on July 11
All people facing cancer, their family members, and caregivers are invited to the next Commonwealth Cancer Association monthly support meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, 5:30pm at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s Restaurant.

SSHS opens registration for SY 2018-2019
Saipan Southern High School announced that the last day to turn in registration for school year 2018-2019 would be on July 31, 2018. Required documents must be copied before turning in. If there is any other information or question, call SSHS’ main office at 664-4000. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. (PR)

Witnesses host convention
The public is invited to attend a free annual event being hosted by Jehovah’s Witnesses on the weekend of July 13-15 at their Kingdom Hall in Gualo Rai. With the theme “Be Courageous!” this year’s convention will focus on practical ways to enjoy a happy life now and have a real hope for the future.

Among the convention’s 54 presentations will be Bible-based talks, audio dramas, interviews and short videos. A multimedia presentation will demonstrate what real people—and even five animals—can teach us about courage.

A Sunday morning public discourse will explain why Jesus told a grieving father: “Have no fear.” (Mark 5:36) And those in attendance Sunday Afternoon will see Jonah get Swallowed by a fish in the feature film: “The Story of Jonah—A Lesson in Courage and Mercy.”

Sessions begin each day at 9:20am. Admission is free and collections will not be taken.

Guam commission on language, history, culture meeting on July 12
The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold a special meeting on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm at the Fasilidat Idukasion CHamoru Guma’ Faninadahen Kosas Guahan Senadot Antonio M. Palomo Board Conference Room, 2nd floor, Hagatna. The agenda items include approval of minutes, financial/budget matters, and updates. The work session originally scheduled for Thursday, July 12, 2018 is cancelled on this date.

Writer’s Workshop comes to Tinian on July 13
The Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Tinian Public Library, Tinian Mayor’s Office, and author Walt F.J. Goodridge will present the author’s popular Writer’s Workshop on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm, free of charge at the library on the island of Tinian.

This event requires at least 15 pre-registered participants in order to take place. Intro to Spanish Class at JKPL
During the month of July, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will be hosting a free Intro to Spanish for Teens and Adults.

The dates for the classes are Friday, July 6, Wednesday, July 11, and Wednesday, July 18. The classes will be held from 4pm to 5pm. Because it is a basic Spanish class, participants will learn topics like the alphabet, counting, basic phrases, and more. This class is part of the Teen and Adult Summer Library Institute, so attending all four classes will count toward the reading log.
