VA social worker to visit Saipan
Tiare Peterkin, a licensed clinical social worker and suicide prevention coordinator with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Pacific Islands Health Care Systems, will be visiting Saipan for the first time on July 11-12 to conduct outreach among veterans here and train providers on the VA’s services and resources for veterans in crisis. Military training at Warning Area 517, FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on July 10-12 from noon to 6pm.
The military will also conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times:
– July 13, from 2pm to 11:55pm
– July 14, from 8am to 4pm
It is recommended that the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.
W-517 is activated south of latitude 12° 40’ 00″N. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank are open for public use.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)
PH consular outreach on Saipan
The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, in coordination with Philippine honorary consul to the CNMI Glicerio Arago, wishes to announce that the schedule for biometrics capturing of the e-passport applications is now available.
A team from the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam will be on Saipan on July 10-13 (Monday to Thursday), at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe for biometrics capturing of e-passport applications. All e-passport applications require “personal appearance.” Wear proper attire (shirt with collar).

Joint memorial service today
To commemorate the American and Japanese lives lost during the Japanese Banzai attack on July 7, 1944, during World War II, the public is invited to attend a joint memorial service today, July 7, at 10am at Aqua Resort Club. The memorial service is organized by non-profit organization Kuentai-USA (based in the U.S.) and Kuentai-Japan (based in Japan) and aims to commemorate the history of the event and honor the lives lost. AMP to host youth program
The American Memorial Park and Pacific Historic Parks invite Saipan youth ages 6-8 to participate in the “Soldier Skills” summer camp program on July 11-13, from 9am to 12pm. To register your child, stop by the American Memorial Park Visitor Center and complete a registration form. Space for the camp is limited. Applications will be accepted at the park and youths will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis.
