Joint memorial service on Friday
To commemorate the American and Japanese lives lost during the Japanese Banzai attack on July 7, 1944, during World War II, the public is invited to attend a joint memorial service on Friday, July 7, at 10am at Aqua Resort Club. The memorial service is organized by non-profit organization Kuentai-USA (based in the U.S.) and Kuentai-Japan (based in Japan) and aims to commemorate the history of the event and honor the lives lost. Chamber meeting today
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will have its general membership meeting today, July 5, at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, featuring Marian Aldan-Pierce, district president of DFS and board member of the Northern Marianas Business Alliance Corp. She will discuss the need for collective documentation that outlines the efforts to recruit and train U.S. eligible workers as well as other factors that have affected hiring practices in the CNMI. Also speaking are representatives of the CNMI State Rehabilitation Council. Luncheon will be served at 11:30am, and the meeting will begin at noon. (PR)
Garapan Fishing Base boat ramp closed
The Garapan Fishing Base boat ramp and its parking facility is closed to all vessels until today, July 5, 2017, to provide access and parking to Liberation Festival patrons. Use the Smiling Cove Marina boat ramp at this time. For questions, call 664-6000. (PR)
AMP to host youth program
The American Memorial Park and its non-profit partner, Pacific Historic Parks, invite Saipan youth ages 6-8 to participate in the “Soldier Skills” summer camp program on July 11-13, from 9am to 12pm.
To register your child, stop by the American Memorial Park Visitor Center and complete a registration form. Space for the camp is limited. Applications will be accepted at the park and youths will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis.

WSR now accepting registrations
William S. Reyes Elementary School is now accepting registration for new and returning students for school year 2017-2018. Parents and guardians will need the following documents: updated health certificate (CHCC), updated student insurance/Medicaid, birth certificate (new students), legal guardianship documents (if applicable/must be issued by a U.S. court system; affidavit and power of attorney do not apply). If legal guardianship documents were issued by a foreign court system, all documents must be translated and certified through a U.S. court system. Visit the school to register. Military training at Farallon de Medinilla
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla tomorrow, July 5, from 2pm to 9pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)

Kagman High School is accepting registrations all summer. It is ideal to get your registration submitted ASAP to get your child scheduled in the optimum classes they need to graduate! So far we have received less than 150 registrations from returning students. We have also received very few registration forms from incoming freshmen!
