Chamber meeting tomorrow

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will have its general membership meeting tomorrow, July 5, at the Seaside Hall, Kanoa Resort, featuring Marian Aldan-Pierce, district president of DFS and board member of the Northern Marianas Business Alliance Corp. She will discuss the need for collective documentation that outlines the efforts to recruit and train U.S. eligible workers as well as other factors that have affected hiring practices in the CNMI. Also speaking are representatives of the CNMI State Rehabilitation Council. Luncheon will be served at 11:30am, and the meeting will begin at noon. (PR)

Garapan Fishing Base boat ramp closed temporarily

The Garapan Fishing Base boat ramp and its parking facility will be closed to all vessels until tomorrow, July 5, 2017, to provide access and parking to Liberation Festival patrons. Use the Smiling Cove Marina boat ramp at this time. For questions, call 664-6000. (PR)

WSR now accepting registrations

William S. Reyes Elementary School is now accepting registration for new and returning students for school year 2017-2018. Parents and guardians will need the following documents: updated health certificate (CHCC), updated student insurance/Medicaid, birth certificate (new students), legal guardianship documents (if applicable/must be issued by a U.S. court system; affidavit and power of attorney do not apply). If legal guardianship documents were issued by a foreign court system, all documents must be translated and certified through a U.S. court system. Visit the school to register. Lower Base transfer station, Marpi landfill closed on July 4

In observance of Independence Day today, July 4, 2017, both the Lower Base transfer station and the Marpi landfill will be closed all day. Regular operations resume tomorrow, July 5, 2017. (PR)

Military training at Farallon de Medinilla

ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla tomorrow, July 5, from 2pm to 9pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)

Family grief support group to meet on July 6

The Compassionate Friends of Saipan will be holding their monthly grief support meeting on Thursday, July 6, from 6pm to 7:30pm, in the NMPASI conference room on Middle Road, in Gualo Rai. Green Meadow School is now accepting registration for new and returning students for first to eighth grade for school year 2017-2018. Visit the GMS business office in Chalan Kiya or Gualo Rai and pick up the registration form. We are also opening registration for first grade at the Gualo Rai branch. Oleai Elementary School is now accepting registration for new and returning students for school year 2017-2018.
