MCS to revive face-to-face Parent Orientation

Mount Carmel School will reinstate face-to-face Parent Orientation on Aug. 9 for grades K4 to sixth grade and Aug. 10 for grades seventh to 12th. Both events will be from 5:30pm to 7pm and will start in the MCS gym/cafeteria. After the orientation, parents will have the opportunity to meet with their student’s teachers in the respective classrooms. Free NMC info session on Aug. 3 

Individuals who are interested in furthering their education are encouraged to attend Northern Marianas College’s free information session on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021. The event will cover information on the admissions application process, financial aid, class registration, academic programs and services, and the new vaccination requirements for the fall 2021 semester.

The info session will be held from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the Olympio T. Borja Library at the college’s As Terlaje campus. The library is located in Building O of NMC’s Campus.

The sessions will cover topics that include financial aid options and admissions.

NMC’s fall 2021 semester will begin on Aug. 16, 2021. A list of the classes that are offered can be found at www.marianas.edu. 

NMC offers several degree and certificate programs, including a bachelor of science degree in education (emphasis in elementary education, early childhood education, special education, or rehabilitation and human services), bachelor of science degree in business management (emphasis in accounting); associate of arts degree in business, associate of applied science degrees in business administration (emphasis in accounting, business management, or computer applications), associate of arts in liberal arts (emphasis in education, health and physical education, social work, and pre-engineering), associate of science in nursing, natural resources management, associate of applied science in criminal justice, and hospitality management.

Guam issues box jellyfish advisory

Guam’s Department of Agriculture’s Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources Fisheries would like to remind people to be on the lookout for box jellyfish. Box jellyfish can be found on the beach or in the water, especially on reef flats. Box jellyfish are anticipated from July 31 to Aug. 3, 2021 . Box jellyfish can sting even if washed on the beach and dead.
