SCC’s GREL committee to meet
The Government Relations Committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce will be meeting this Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 9am in the SCC conference room. The one-hour meeting offer unique insights, suggestions, or comments concerning  urrent legislations that may affect the business community.

Road closure for sewer line installation
The intersection of Chalan Pale Arnold Road and Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road will be closed until Friday, July 28, 2017, 6pm for a sewer line installation. The Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s contractor for the W-4, W-5 and W-6 Sewer Lift Station Elimination Project, Hong Ye Construction, will be completing the last 150 feet to 200 feet installation of sewer main for the contract. For the safety of the men and women working at the site, motorists are advised to proceed with caution and take alternative routes when traveling by the area.

There is currently a sewer line replacement project in Garapan due to a collapsed line along Coral Tree Avenue fronting the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan. CUC’s contractor, RNV Construction, will be working to replace the collapsed line until Aug. 13, 2017.

Military training at FDM, Barrigada
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times:

• July 25, from 7pm to 11pm
• July 26, from 9am to 4pm

The military will also conduct training at the former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course in Barrigada on July 26-27, from 5am to 1pm

It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.

These trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the trainings.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)

VA benefits outreach on Saipan
The U.S. Department of Veterans Benefits Administration will be visiting Saipan on Aug. 31, 2017, and will be conducting a benefits workshop/claims clinic and outreach at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. The workshop/claims clinic will be from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Veterans will also be meeting one-on-one with the benefit counselor from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. (PR)

Ayuda invites public to fair
The Ayuda Network, Inc. is inviting the public to a Community and Partnership Fair on Saturday, July 29, at the Filcom Pavilion/Civic Center basketball court from 7:30am to 4pm. The purpose of the fair is to acknowledge and promote network partners for their 25 years of support and contributions to the Ayuda Network, Inc. and the 15 years of advocacy support and contributions to the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition. Registration at Francisco M. Sablan Middle School
The Francisco M. Sablan Middle School is reminding that all students, new and returning, must register for school year 2017-2018. Returning students must submit a registration form, medical clearance (blue card), and student insurance.

In addition to the three requirements, new students must submit their birth certificate, copy of last report card from the previous school year, transfer out form (if applicable), and map of residence.
The Francisco M. Sablan Middle School school zone is south of DPA Car Mart to Koblerville (south of St. Jude Church) and includes the As Gonno area.

All registration forms must be submitted at the office. Upon submission, the office staff will provide free meal applications.

The school supplies lists are available at National Office, Modern Stationary, and at FMS Middle School. (PR)
