Hopwood 8th graders should pick up promotional certificate
All recent 8th grade students from Hopwood Junior High School must pick up their promotional certificate from the main office. The certificate is required for high school registration. Last day to pick up certificates will be on Friday, July 31, 2015. The main office is open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4:30pm.
Hopwood is now accepting registrations for school year 2015-2016. Documents needed upon registration for all students are updated health records (renewed annually), health insurance or Medicaid, and map of residence. For new students, submission of birth certificate and previous school records must also be submitted upon registration. Registration is not final until all documents are submitted to the office.

Cleanup brigade set for Aug. 1 at Tank Beach
The Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality Cleanup Brigade will be picking up trash at Tank Beach on Saturday, Aug, 1, 2015, at 8am. If you would like to volunteer, meet the BECQ representatives on Saturday at the Tank Beach parking lot at 8am. Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10am and break for drinks and then continue, if needed.
This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a brigade T-shirt.

Nominees sought for 2015 Bridge of Light awardee
The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence is now accpeting nominations for the 2015 Bridge of Light Award, which is given each year to honor the accomplishments and sacrifices of one individual who has worked to provide safety for the community, to work to end domestic violence and sexual assault, and to be a “Bridge of Light” for victims and survivors in the CNMI.
Nomination forms are available for pick up and submission at the NMCADSV office in Springs Plaza in Gualo Rai next to New XO Market, or may be emailed upon request and availability through kiki@endviolencenmi.org. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. The deadline to submit complete nomination forms is on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015.

San Antonio Middle School is accepting registrations for school year 2015-2016. Deadline for NCLEX-RN exam prep course
The CNMI Area Health Education Center, through the Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute, is sponsoring a preparatory course for the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX, for registered nurses this summer 2015. To qualify for the course, students must have already earned their associate degree in nursing. The deadline to enroll in this NCLEX-RN exam preparatory course is Friday, July 24, 2015.
The CNMI Area Health Education Center will subsidize this preparatory course for U.S. citizens and U.S. green card holders on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must submit a copy of their highest nursing degree and a valid ID, passport, driver’s license, or birth certificate for verification upon registration.
The preparatory course dates will run from July 26 to Aug. 30, 2015, from 1pm to 4pm at Building D-1. The preparatory course will be offered at a discounted price of $419.

2nd Annual International Festival of Cultures set
The 2nd Annual International Festival of Cultures will be held Aug. 22 and 29 and Sept. 5, 12, 19, and 26 at Paseo de Marianas in Garapan and will celebrate the cultural diversity of the Northern Mariana Islands, with special emphasis on the indigenous cultures of Micronesia. Agricultural emergency loans now available
Commercial agricultural producers in Guam who were negatively impacted by Typhoon Dolphin may be eligible for Emergency Loans through the United State Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency. Eligible producers can borrow up to 100 percent of actual production or physical losses to a maximum amount of $500,000 at a low interest rate. Farm Service Agency will consider each loan application on its own merits. Deadline to apply is Feb. 5, 2016.
