VA benefits outreach on Saipan

The U.S. Department of Veterans Benefits Administration will be visiting Saipan on Aug. 31, 2017, and will be conducting a benefits workshop/claims clinic and outreach at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. The workshop/claims clinic will be from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Veterans will also be meeting one-on-one with the benefit counselor from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

Workshop topics include VA benefits, loan guaranty, vocational rehabilitation & employment, death benefits & education benefits. Counselors will be available to answer questions and assist with the claim process. (PR)

NMPASI closed this morning

This is to inform the public that the Northern Marianas Protection & Advocacy Systems, Inc. or NMPASI will be closed today, July 21, 2017, from 8am to 1pm. It will resume normal business hours at 1pm. (PR)

Ayuda invites public to fair

The Ayuda Network, Inc. is inviting the public to a Community and Partnership Fair on Saturday, July 29, at the Filcom Pavilion/Civic Center basketball court from 7:30am to 4pm. The purpose of the fair is to acknowledge and promote network partners for their 25 years of support and contributions to the Ayuda Network, Inc. and the 15 years of advocacy support and contributions to the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition. Power outage Saturday

There will be a power interruption on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 5:30am to 10:30am, in Dandan on Flame Tree Road to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to replace wooden power poles with concrete poles. Saturday’s power outage will affect Lower Dandan (Holiday Dr., Independence Loop, and Natibu Pl.) and partials of Flame Tree Road. The IF-15 water well may be affected. Water service interruption in Kagman

The entire Kagman will experience a water service interruption on Monday, July 24, from 9am to 1pm. The Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s leak detection consultant will be performing leak detection on the CUC water transmission lines throughout Kagman. In doing so, shutting-off the water wells is required to locate leaks in the area. This project will enhance CUC’s capability to provide reliable water service in the future and reduce inconvenience to its consumers. Free kids’ camp, teen sports clinics

Kagman Community Church will host free Kids’ Camp on July 24-27, from 9am until noon for children ages 4-11. Children can choose between soccer, basketball, arts and crafts, and drama. KCC will also host free Teen Sports Clinics for softball, soccer, and basketball from 2:30pm to 5pm at the Kagman 2 basketball court. Youth fishing derby on Rota on July 23

The Rota Mayor’s Office will be hosting a youth fishing derby at the Teteto Beach on Sunday, July 23, from 9am to 4pm. Interested participants must fill out application forms at the Rota Mayor’s Office. Participants must be ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. There will be an orientation at the Teteto Pavilion on Sunday, July 23, at 8:30am. (MVA)
