Power outage on Isa Drive on Saturday

There will be a scheduled power interruption along Isa Drive in San Vicente on Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 5:30am to 10:30am to de-energize the primary lines to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to safely replace four wooden power poles with concrete poles. Youth fishing derby on Rota on July 23

The Rota Mayor’s Office will be hosting a youth fishing derby at the Teteto Beach on Sunday, July 23, from 9am to 4pm. Interested participants must fill out application forms at the Rota Mayor’s Office. Participants must be ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. There will be an orientation at the Teteto Pavilion on Sunday, July 23, at 8:30am. Cash prizes will be given to the participant who collects the most number of fish. Prizes are $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. (MVA)

Jehovah’s Witnesses host convention

Jehovah’s Witnesses is inviting the public to a convention with the theme, “Don’t Give Up!” on July 14-16 at their Kingdom Hall auditorium in Gualo Rai. Admission is free and collections will not be taken. The convention begins at 9:20am daily. There will be an immersion baptism at noon on Saturday. For more information, visit jw.org. (PR)

Ongoing gambling survey

The Substance Abuse & Rehabilitation Program is conducting a “Gambling Survey” to gather baseline data in order to help determine if a further comprehensive screening tool or assessment is needed in regards to gambling in the CNMI. An online version of the survey can be taken at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FDKXYNH. The last day to complete the online survey is this Saturday, July 15, 2017. (PR)

MINA sea trash contest

The Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance will again conduct a marine debris raffle draw at the 33rd Saipan International Fishing Tournament on July 15 and 16. Participants must find at least one piece of trash, which is man-made, found in the ocean, and collected while they are fishing in the derby. The trash will have to be turned in to the MINA booth upon docking to receive a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets are limited to one for each individual qualifying fisherman.
