DOL advises claimants to disregard 1099-G attachments received via hiremarianas.com
The CNMI Department of Labor has received notification that certain individuals are receiving incorrect 1099-G tax information for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program via hiremarianas.com.
The department is currently addressing the issue and would like to inform PUA recipients to disregard electronic messages sent by “POSTMASTER” yesterday, Jan. 28, 2021. These messages contain incorrect 1099-G tax information and are sent with the following subject matter: “Certain Government Payments 1099G.”
Updates regarding this matter will be addressed in subsequent public announcements from CNMI DOL. (PR)
4.5-magnitude quake occurred on Pagan
At 1:28am on Jan. 27, 2021, a report of a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred at 18.406°N 145.594°E in the Pagan region of the Northern Mariana Islands. Currently, there are no tsunami warnings or advisories issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. (PR)
Power service interruption on today
There will be a scheduled power service interruption today, Jan. 29, 2021, from 9am to 1pm, for the area of Espana Street in Gualo Rai. No traffic light, water well, or wastewater lift station will be affected. (PR)
Water service interruptions today
There will be a scheduled water service interruption for the areas of San Vicente, Papago (along Isa Drive), Laulau, Tuturam, Upper Dandan Homestead, Obyan, and Naftan today, Jan. 29, 2021, from 8am to 4pm.
This will allow the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s contractor, GPPC, Inc., for the San Vicente Water Tank Replacement Project to connect the 6-inch PVC pipes to the existing transmission lines to allow temporary water service during the replacement of the existing tank. (PR)

The Guam Procurement Technical Assistance Center is offering free live webinars that run from 10am to 11:30am and will be conducted via Zoom. Links to the live webinar and the webinar evaluation will be emailed to all registered attendees 15 minutes before the start of the webinar.
• Feb. 4 – Responding to RFPs – The Guam PTAC will walk participants through the common sections and clauses of an RFP as well as provide tips on developing a proposal in response to an RFP.
• Feb. 11 – Teaming Arrangements & JVs – What are they and which is right for your business? The Guam PTAC will discuss the Federal regulations related to these arrangements and discuss ways to use these arrangements effectively.
• Feb. 18 – Cybersecurity – The Guam PTAC will discuss what Federal contractors can do to make sure they are complying with DOD requirements with respect to keeping data protected. DOD’s upcoming Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and the DFARS Interim Rule will be discussed.
• Feb. 25 – PIEE – Do you have a DOD contract and need to get paid? The Guam PTAC will explain DOD invoicing procedures using the Wide-Area Workflow module in the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment system.
