Survivors, caregivers support meeting on Thursday
All people facing cancer, their family members, and caregivers are invited to the next Commonwealth Cancer Association support meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, 5:30pm at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Chamolinian Room. The guest speaker will be Regina Terlaje, Ayuda Network Inc. program coordinator, and her presentation will on respite service program and training/technical assistance for volunteers, caregivers and family members. Scheduled power outage on Jan. 27
There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, to allow the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to perform line clearing near the primary lines along Haiguas Ln. Chalan Piao. Areas to be affected include Kiya 2 (3” partial), affecting Chalan Piao (Haiguas Ln., Niyok Dr., Ramona Ln., and Teodoro Dr.). Underwater detonation training in Guam harbor
ASAN, Guam—U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 will conduct underwater detonation training in Outer Apra Harbor today, Jan. 24, from 8am to 4pm.

EODMU-5 will detonate one 5-lb explosive at the designated UNDET location on a sandy area of the sea floor. For the safety of the public and participants involved, the Coast Guard will establish a safety zone to restrict access in the vicinity.

EODMU-5 performs underwater detonation training to develop the skills needed to be ready to rapidly respond to operational missions and unexploded ordnance support on Guam and the CNMI.

For the safety of personnel and marine life, the area will be cleared by divers and by lookouts on the surface before, during and after the exercise. All activity will cease temporarily if a person or marine life is seen in the area.

Kilili will address SHRM on Jan. 25
Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) will be speaking at the Jan. 25 meeting of the Human Resource Management NMI Chapter about the recently introduced Northern Mariana Islands U.S. Workforce Act, legislation to extend the CW visa program. 

This lunch meeting will be held at the Pacific Islands Club Charley’s Cabaret on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The presentation is open to the public. Sablan will provide an opportunity for questions.

Meeting of Kagman farmers
The Department of Lands and Natural Resources, Division of Agriculture, and the Saipan and Northern Islands Soil and Water Conservation District would like to inform farmers and farmers of the Kagman Commercial Farm Plot that there will be a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at 9am at the Division of Agriculture’s Kagman station. Topics to be discussed will include the upcoming election of S&NISWCD administrators. The DLNR is looking for farmers to be administrators of the S&NISWCD. Military training
at Warning Area 517, FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on Jan. 24-25, from noon to 8pm. The U.S. military will also conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla on Jan. 26 and 28, from 10am to 11:59pm
It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.
