Muggsy Bogues to speak at UOG today

The University of Guam welcomes former National Basketball Association player Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues as the 30th speaker in its Presidential Lecture Series. Bogues’ lecture, titled “In the Land of Giants: My Life in Basketball” will be held at 5:30pm today, Jan. 17, in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences lecture hall.

Bogues, at 5 ft. 3 in. tall, is the shortest player to ever play in the NBA. He played point guard for four teams in 14 seasons before retiring in 2001 as the 16th all-time assists leader. After-school program at Kagman center

 The Family & Youth Enhancement Program-Youth Services Section of the Division of Youth Services offers an after-school program at the Kagman Community Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Aside from homework/school project sessions, the program also provides for youth prevention activities that focus on literacy, art and music, career opportunities and cultural demonstrations. (PR)

Kagman schools PTSA meeting set

This is to inform all parents, guardians, and the community that the Kagman cluster schools will be having a PTSA meeting on Thursday Jan. 19, 2017, at 5pm at the Kagman Elementary School cafeteria. Air Force training at Farallon de Medinilla

ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times:

• Jan. 18 from 8am to 8pm

• Jan. 20 from 10am to 3pm

The public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear of the areas during the dates and times indicated. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 12-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. (PR)
