Naval Base Guam to conduct command assessment of readiness and training

SANTA RITA, Guam—U.S. Naval Base Guam security forces and other first responders will participate in the Command Assessment of Readiness and Training on Feb. 18-21.
CART is a Commander, Navy Installations Command program that evaluates installation response capabilities in various scenarios. It will take place on NBG Main Base to include Apra Harbor and involves training scenarios that replicate real-world events. CART is a regularly scheduled exercise.
This exercise will incorporate blank ammunition fire as part of simulated attacks. Residents are advised to not be alarmed if they see or hear an increase in exercise related activity within NBG Main Base and Apra Harbor.
This exercise is scheduled to last from 8am to 4pm each day.
During this exercise there will be increased patrols and security activity in and around NBG Main Base. Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic and delays for base access.
Additionally, the NBG Giant Voice system will be utilized during the exercise. Residents living in the surrounding areas of the GV speakers will hear exercise announcements throughout the week. (PR)
