NMC info session tonight
Individuals who are interested in furthering their education are encouraged to attend Northern Marianas College’s free information session tonight, Dec. 11, 2019. In addition to the admission process, college personnel will talk about financial aid options that are available for the spring 2019 semester.
The info session will be held from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at NMC’s Olympio T. Borja Library at the college’s As Terlaje campus.
Attendees will qualify to have their application fee and their placement test fees waived for NMC’s upcoming spring 2020 semester, a savings of about $75.
The first day of classes will be on Jan. 21, 2020, but interested applicants are encouraged to apply early to register for courses and for financial aid.

CHamoru commission meeting set
The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ i Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of the History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold its second December monthly meeting on Dec. 19, 2019, Thursday, from 2:30pm to 5pm at the Guam Museum conference room in Hågatña. The CNMI Homeless Prevention Coalition will be having its general membership meeting today, Dec. 11, 2019, starting at 10am, at the Division of Youth Services conference room in Chalan Piao (next to the Bank of Guam). US military trainings
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Navy will conduct helicopter training in Dandan-Malojloj from 11am to 11:55pm today and tomorrow, Dec. 11 and 12.
Naval special warfare units will conduct anti-terrorism training in Radio Barrigada from 11am to 5pm today, Dec. 11. Training ammunition will be used during this training. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the trainings.
Helicopter Sea-Combat Squadron 25 will conduct embassy reinforcement training in Radio Barrigada from 6pm to 11pm today, Dec. 11. During these trainings, blanks will be used. Residents in surrounding areas again should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the trainings.
The U.S. Coast Guard will conduct live fire training in open ocean from 9:30am to 11am today, Dec. 11. All vessels are advised to keep clear of a five nautical mile radius of these coordinates: 13˚29”N/144˚25”E. These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training.
It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. (PR)
Free Guam workshops
The Guam Procurement Technical Assistance Center is offering free workshops to the public this December that will teach participants how to market and sell your products/services to the federal government.
Workshops run from 9am to 10am at the University of Guam in the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero Business and Public Admin Building, Margarita Perez & Jaime Tuquero IT&E Lecture Hall, Room 131(unless otherwise specified):
– Dec. 12: Responding to Requests for Proposals—The Guam PTAC will walk participants through the common sections and clauses of an RFP as well as provide tips on developing a proposal in response to an RFP.
– Dec. 19: Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment—Do you have a DOD contract and need to get paid? The Guam PTAC will explain DOD invoicing procedures using the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment system, formerly known as WAWF.
For Project Management Professionals, Guam PTAC workshops may count toward your annual Professional Development Unit goals.
