NMDC board members meeting today
The Northern Marianas Descent Corp. board will be having a mandatory meeting today, Dec. 10, 2014, at the Garapan Resource & Learning Center (behind the Garapan basketball court), from 2pm to 4pm. On the agenda is approval of NMDC’s 2014-2016 goals. All NMDC board members (only) are urged to attend this mandatory meeting. For board members who are unable to attend the meeting, contact NMDC board president Herman Deleon Guerrero at 287-6462.

Sobriety checkpoints on Tinian
The Tinian Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting DUI/sobriety checkpoints on the dates and time listed below:

Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, from 6pm to 7:15pm: Southbound lane along Broadway Road by Housing Turnkey.

Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, from 6pm to 7:15pm: Southbound lane on Broadway Road by the Youth Center in San Jose Village.

Each checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes). Checkpoints are subject to be terminated if it begins to rain. This activity is part of the department’s effort to deter, detect and apprehend impaired drivers and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions and laser (speed detection) enforcement.

HSC-25 training at Naval Base Guam
SANTA RITA, Guam—Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron-25 will conduct overwater aerial maneuvers in the vicinity of North Tipalo Bay (Old Wives Beach) from Dec. 9, 2014, to Dec. 11, 2014.

The daily exercise will be conducted during daylight hours only, between 8am and 4pm. HSC-25 will deploy training devices (practice flares) during the course of the exercise to simulate tactical aerial maneuvers.

The practice flares have a yellow illumination characteristic (glow) and will be ejected overwater and well clear of landmasses. The practice flares will dissipate in the air and represent no environmental hazard. (PR)

Air Force training at Naval Base Guam
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Air Force will conduct training of Orote Point on Dec. 9-10 from 9am to 6pm. The general public especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay outside 10 nautical miles from 13°-25’N/144°-38’E during the times and date indicated. (PR)
