MAFEA induction, Christmas party

The Marianas Association of Filipino Engineers and Architects will induct its officers and board members and hold its Christmas party on Dec. 3, 2017, at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, starting at 12pm (lunch). All Filipino engineers and architects in the CNMI are invited and encouraged to attend and be part of this occasion. (PR)

VA benefits counselor to visit Saipan

A benefits counselor of the U.S. Department of Veterans Benefits Administration will be at the Saipan VA Outreach Clinic on Dec. 15, from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The benefits counselor will be available to answer benefits questions, and assist with the claim process.
The Saipan VA Outreach Clinic is located at the MH II Bldg. Suite 206, Marina Heights Business Park in Garapan.

Guam detonation training today

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam—Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians with the 36th Civil Engineer Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, will be detonating munitions as part of routine training at the Tarague Basin today, Dec. 1, from 9am to noon.
The training will be confined to a cordoned portion of Tarague Beach, and may produce loud noises. The training is not expected to affect the area outside the security perimeter. (PR)

Bank of Guam holiday schedule

Friday, Dec. 8: All Guam and CNMI branches of the Bank of Guam will be closed. The Customer Service Department will also be closed from 3pm to midnight.

Monday, Dec. 25: All branches will be closed. The Customer Service Department will be closed beginning Sunday, Dec. 24 at noon, all day Christmas Day, reopening after midnight on Dec. 26, 2017

Monday, Jan. 1, 2018: All branches will be closed. The Customer Service Department will be closed beginning Sunday, Dec. 31, at noon, all day New Year’s Day, reopening after midnight on Jan. 2, 2018. (PR)

Personalized Christmas ornaments for sale in fundraiser

Team KOKA presents the second year of its Tree of Angels project. Personalized Christmas ornaments are being sold for $5 in memory of beloved ones. The ornaments will be displayed on Christmas trees beginning Dec. 10 at the San Jose Church. ‘Glow, Walk, Run, or Wheel’ on Tinian

The VOICES of the CNMI-Tinian Chapter presents its annual “Glow, Walk, Run, or Wheel” on Saturday, Dec. 9, starting at 5:30pm at the Tinian Teen Center. This will be the fourth year for the VOICES signature event.

Registration is $10 per participant and each participant will receive a signature T-shirt designed by The Undeniable and a raffle ticket.

Innovation Summit on Dec. 5

The Commonwealth Development Authority and the CNMI Department of Commerce are hosting an Innovation Summit on Dec. 5 at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan’s Hibiscus Hall, from 9am to 2pm, featuring John McElligott and David Rixter. This summit is workforce development related, augmented with new technology that is now developing rapidly. It is free.

There will also be a small gathering on Dec. 4, 2017, at the American Memorial Park Indoor Theatre from 5pm to 8pm, during which McElligott will be making a presentation to potential stakeholders as well as to any other interested individuals.

Members of the community, both public and private, are encouraged to participate. (PR)

MIFICPA to host Excel workshop

The Marianas Institute of Filipino CPAs and Accountants, is inviting all members to this year’s workshop on advanced Microsoft Excel on Dec. 2, 2017, from 8:30am to 12pm, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. Registration starts at 8am.

There will be a $5 fee to cover incidentals. Non-members are welcome for a $15 seminar fee. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Most importantly, please bring your own laptop.

Power interruption on Dec. 2

There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, from 5:30am to 10:30am to allow line crew of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to safely replace three wooden power poles with concrete poles along Chalan Tun Thomas P. Sablan in San Antonio. Areas to be affected include Kiya 2 (2nd partial), which covers San Antonio Chalan Tun Thomas P. Sablan (Batto Pl., Bunita Pl., Aluda Pl., and Asuli Pl.). No water well will be affected. Sewer lift stations that will be affected are: A-1, A-2, & A-16. (CUC)
