MCS classes cancelled Sept. 3 and 6

Mount Carmel School announced yesterday that classes will be cancelled this Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, for an anticipated professional development for her employees. Additionally, in observance of the Labor Day holiday, MCS classes are cancelled on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021. The campus will be closed on these dates. 5.5-magnitude quake in Inarajan

At 12:47am on Aug. 25, 2021, a report of a 5.5-magnitude earthquake occurred 71 km south-southeast of Inarajan Village, Guam. Currently, there are tsunami warnings or advisories that were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 670-237-8000. (PR)

Water service interruption tomorrow in parts of Dandan, Obyan, Naftan

There will be a scheduled water service interruption tomorrow, Sept. 1, 2021, from 8am to 3pm for Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in Obyan, Naftan and portions of Dandan due to the connection of a 6-inch PVC pipe from the new PSV assembly to the existing 8-inch PVC pipe from the San Vicente water tank to the Dandan water tank. Water service to the affected areas will resume soon after the project.

This project is part of the San Vicente Water Tank Replacement Project to provide a more reliable water system to the people of the CNMI. It is being funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Power interruption on Thursday

There will be a scheduled power service interruption on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, from 8:30am to 2:30pm for a portion of Dandan. As the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. continues its ongoing system maintenance, there will be a scheduled power interruption to de-energize utility lines such that CUC linemen are able to safely replace rotted wooden power poles to concrete poles along Flame Tree Road in Dandan.

• Outage type: Sectionalized outage on the Kiya 1 Circuit

• Project location: Dandan

• Power service area(s) affected: Portions of Dandan (portions of Flame Tree Road, Holiday Drive, Independence Loop and Natibu Place).
