Public invited to townhall meeting
The Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council will hold a village townhall meeting this Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School cafeteria, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The topic will be about the proposed resumption of the Saipan Neighborhood Watch program.
Power interruption tomorrow
There will be a scheduled power service interruption tomorrow, Aug. 4, 2021, from 9am to 11am for Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in As Perdido and partials of Chalan Kanoa.
This will allow CUC linemen to re-install the airbrake switch in the affected areas that were damaged during Super Typhoon Yutu.

4.5-magnitude quake in Merizo
At 6:33am on Aug. 2, 2021, a report of a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred 267 kilometers west southwest of Merizo, Guam. Currently, no tsunami warnings or advisories were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 237-8000. (PR)
4.9-magnitude quake in Yigo
At 11:09am on Aug. 1, 2021, a report of a 4.9-magnitude earthquake occurred 14.005°N 145.063°E, 55 kilometers north-northeast of Yigo, Guam. Learn about federal contracting
The Guam Procurement Technical Assistance Center is offering free live webinars this month. Webinars run from 10am to 11:30am and will be conducted via Zoom. Links to the live webinar and the webinar evaluation will be emailed to all registered attendees 15 minutes before the start of the webinar.
– Aug. 5 – Applying for a DUNS Number & Registering in SAM –Vendors need a DUNS number and an active SAM registration to participate in Federal contracting. The Guam PTAC will take you through the registration processes for both these requirements. We will also show you how to complete the annual SAM registration renewal.
– Aug. 12 – Federal Contract Opportunities – SAM.gov is the portal for Federal Contract Opportunities. The Guam PTAC will show you how to use the website to ensure you do not miss any opportunities. Types of opportunities, search filters, and search strategies will be discussed.
– Aug. 19 – Cybersecurity: Federal Contractor Responsibilities – The Department of Defense is requiring cybersecurity certification for vendors. We will discuss the best way to comply with DOD’s requirement. The upcoming Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and the DFARS Interim Rule will be discussed.
– Aug. 26 – Marketing to the federal government – The government buys products and services differently than the private sector. The Guam PTAC will discuss marketing strategies, essential documents, and how to get your company on “the list.”
