Japan Consulate offers class on Japanese culture
The Consular Office of Japan on Saipan will host a class about the Japanese culture on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 3pm to 4:30pm, at the conference room of the Consular Office of Japan, second floor of the Bank of Hawaii Building, Mariana Heights Business Park, Puerto Rico, Saipan. The lecture will focus on the nature of Japanese culture, haiku (Japanese poetry), and Japan video topics.
Any interested person is kindly requested to register by Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, by contacting the Saipan Secretariat at cojsf@ag.mofa.go.jp. The class will be limited to 10 people due to the seating capacity and it will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register your name as early as possible. (PR)
DPS to close Marpi today
The Department of Public Safety will block off the northern part of the island, Marpi, on Friday, Aug. 29, from 12pm to 3pm. The purpose of this blockage is to dispose of the significant collection of unexploded ordinance that has been collected by the Department of Public Safety Explosive Response Team. All visitors to these popular areas of the island are requested to make arrangements to visit either in the morning before the 12 noon deadline or after the operation has completed at 3pm. Marpi landfill closes before 12pm today
The Marpi landfill will only be open from 7:30am to 11:30am today, Aug. 29. However, the facility will be closed before 12pm due to the disposal of unexploded ordnance to be conducted by the Department of Public Safety. Military to conduct training at FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla from 5am on Sept. 8 to 11:59pm on Oct. 6. The general public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. Free workshop on project planning and development
The Administration for Native Americans Pacific Region Training and Technical Assistance Center will be conducting a Project Planning & Development Training workshop at Northern Marianas College from Sept. 8 to 10, from 9am to 4pm, in room N-5.
Are you developing a project to serve your native Chamorro and/or Carolinian community? Attend this three-day workshop and learn how to document and demonstrate a community-driven start up process, create a project work plan, develop measurable outcomes and impacts, and determine the resources and funding you need.
The training will be held on Saipan but will be broadcast through videoconference live to Rota (NMC campus) and Tinian (NMC campus).
The training is made possible through partnerships with the Inetnon Amot yan Kutturan Natibu/Mwiischil Safey me Aramasal Faluw, NMC, and Ka’anani’au LLC (Hawaii).
