Free webinars for cnmi start-ups and side hustles

Thanks to sponsorship through the Northern Marianas College, the “CNMI Small Business Side Hustle” COVID-19 Training Series will be available to participants in the CNMI free of charge. These trainings aim to help entrepreneurs and new business owners in the CNMI better understand how to start their business endeavors while still being impacted COVID-19.

Trainings include the following:

• How to Price Your Services to Be Profitable for Your COVID-19 Side Hustle: Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, 9am –11am or 5:30pm – 7:30pm

• How to Get Funding for my COVID-19 Side Hustle: Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, 9am –11am or 5:30pm – 7:30pm

• How to Make Your Side Hustle Your Full-Time Gig: Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, 9am –11am or 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Taste of the Marianas contests registration

Registration is on-going for three contests at 19th Annual Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden: Kadun Pika Cooking Contest on Aug. 27; Eskabeche Cooking Contest on Aug. 28, and Bunuelos Kamuti Eating Contest on Aug. 29. All contests will be held at 7pm. at the festival grounds at Garapan Fishing Base on Saipan, and registration is open to 10 contestants per contest. Free federal contracting webinar

The Guam Procurement Technical Assistance Center is offering a free live webinar on Thursday, Aug. 26, called “Marketing to the Federal Government.” The government buys products and services differently than the private sector. The Guam PTAC will discuss marketing strategies, essential documents, and how to get your company on “the list.” This webinar will run from 10am to 11:30am and will be conducted via Zoom. 4.8-magnitude quake in Maug region

At 1:37am on Aug. 21, 2021, a report of a 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred 20.581°N 145.332°E of the Maug Islands region in the Northern Mariana Islands. There were no tsunami warnings or advisories issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 670-237-8000. (PR)
