2015 Club 200 is cancelled
The American Red Cross Northern Mariana Islands Chapter announced yesterday the cancelation of its annual Club 200 Super Heroes Dinner scheduled for Oct. 3. “Our Chapter and disaster response teams are focused solely on improving lives and helping those most affected by the storm. We are encouraging all of our donors and ticket buyers to support our relief efforts by making a financial contribution to the American Red Cross Typhoon Soudelor Disaster Fund. Financial donations (cash, checks, credit cards) can be made to the American Red Cross Northern Mariana Islands Chapter by emailing nmichapter@redcross.org. (ARC)
Green Gala postponed
As Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance joins the rest of the island in working toward recovery from the great damage brought by Typhoon Soudelor, the non-profit organization has announced that they will be postponing the annual Green Gala that was originally scheduled for Sept. 4, 2015. This highly anticipated event will be rescheduled for later in the year. In the wake of the storm, MINA staff and volunteers are working hard to help with the islandwide cleanup and other priority activities. OAG relocates 3 divisions
The Office of the Attorney General has temporarily relocated three divisions—the Criminal Division, the Attorney General Investigative Division, and the Domestic Violence Intervention Center—to the Civil Division on Capitol Hill, second floor of the Juan A. GCA sets Open House, start of classes
Grace Christian Academy would like to inform the community that Open House will be on Friday, Sept. 11 at 6pm and the first day of school will be Monday, Sept. 14 (8am to 3pm). The campus and buildings received significant damage from Typhoon Soudelor but much work is being done to repair and rebuild. The administration would like to give a heartfelt si yu’us ma’ase to the students, parents, alumni, staff and faculty who have joined in the effort. They would also like to invite the GCA community to come out this week any day Monday through Friday from 8am to 12pm to help with final cleanup around the campus. Even if you can only come out for one hour, the help will be greatly appreciated. If possible, please bring machetes, chainsaws, rakes and pickup trucks to help clear the debris. (GCA)
