MVA essay contest deadline on April 11, 2016
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Marianas Visitors Authority announces a student essay contest open to all CNMI public and private school students Grades 3-12. The deadline to submit to MVA offices on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota offices is 5pm on Monday, April 11.
The theme of the contest is, “How Can I Support the Tourism Industry?” All entries must be typed and include: student name, teacher name, school, and grade level. In additional, maximum essay lengths are 300 words for Grades 3-6, 500 words for grades 7-9, and 600 words for grades 10-12.

Call for entries extended for Humanities Film Festival
The Northern Marianas Humanities Council has extended the call for entries deadline for its Humanities Film Festival to May 31.
The festival’s theme is “Soudelor and the Winds of Change in the CNMI.”
Filmmakers are invited to submit entries that explore and address the ethical, philosophical and existential questions raised in the aftermath of Typhoon Soudelor.
The festival is open to individuals who are 18 years old and older and current residents of the CNMI. High school students (9th-12th grades) are also eligible to submit films. Films may be submitted under three categories—Narrative, Documentary, and Student. Entries in each of these categories may be a feature film (more than 30 minutes) or a film short (no more than 15 minutes).

NMC Open House today, April 8
To increase awareness about Northern Marianas College and various programs offered, the college is inviting members of the community to NMC’s Open House today, April 8, 2016, from 8am to 2:30pm at the As Terlaje campus.
The Open House will feature informational brochures from the following college departments, the Office of Financial Aid, International Student Services, Business Department, School of Education, Social Science and Fine Arts, Sciences, Math and Athletics, Liberal Arts, Criminal Justice, Natural Resource Management, and Language and Humanities.
In addition to the exhibits, there will be games held by the Counseling Office and the College Access Challenge Grant.

Kagman Health Fair tomorrow
The Kagman Community Health Center will be hosting a Health Fair tomorrow, April 9, at the Kagman CHC grounds in Kagman II. The event, set from 9am to 12pm, is in connection with the third year anniversary of Kagman CHC.
Blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, body mass index measurement, breast exam, family planning information, fluoride varnish application, HIV/STD screening, immunization, Pap Smear, and purified protein derivative test—to know if you suffer from tuberculosis—are the services they would offer.
