Navy, Air Force training on FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on April 22-24 from 6am to 11pm. The general public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants.
NBG to test emergency alert system
SANTA RITA, Guam—U.S. Naval Base Guam will conduct a test of its emergency alert system on April 23, from 1pm to 2pm. During the date and time indicated, the system commonly referred to as the Giant Voice will deliver the following message: “This is only a test. No further action required.”
The Giant Voice at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Guam, South Finegayan housing, Flag Circle, I Puntan at Nimitz Hill, North and South Tipalao, Camp Covington, Apra View, Navy Munitions Site, U.S. Coast Guard and Polaris Point will be activated. Residents and patrons in the surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they hear increased activity associated with the test. (PR)
Prescription Drug Take Back Day set
The 2014 National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled nationwide on April 26, 2014, from 10am to 2pm. In the CNMI, the activity will be held simultaneously at the Rota Health Center (Songsong Village), Saipan Commonwealth Health Center (Middle Road Garapan), and Tinian Health Center (San Jose Village). UOG president Underwood to speak at UCLA
University of Guam President Dr. Robert Underwood has been invited to speak at the University of California, Los Angeles as part of the Morgan and Helen Chu Endowment Speaker Series. Dr. Underwood’s presentation is titled: “A Conversation about the State of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Higher Education.”
The presentation will take place at the UCLA Faculty Center in Los Angeles at 1pm (PST) on April 22, 2014, and is co-sponsored by the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies and the UCLA Asian American Studies Center. (PR)
