Navy to conduct training at former Adm. Nimitz Golf Course, Agat Bay

ASAN, Guam—The Navy will conduct parachute operation training at the former Adm. Chester Nimitz Golf Course and Agat Bay during the following dates and times:

• April 21 from 6am to 1pm at the former Adm. Chester Nimitz Golf Course in Barrigada

• April 23 from 9am to 6:30pm in Agat Bay

These trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the trainings.

The general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear of the areas during the dates and times indicated.

Agat Bay is contained within the following coordinates: 13° 23″N/144° 35″E.

Walk & Roll Against Sexual Violence today

The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence is inviting community members to take part in the Walk & Roll Against Sexual Violence today, April 19, in Chalan Kanoa.

Registration will start at 5m at the Saipan Memorial Leadership Courtyard across the USPS building with the event starting at 5:30pm. The first 100 individuals to register will also receive a free T-shirt.

Walk participants are also highly encouraged to create signs or banners to help spread awareness on Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is this April, and on sexual violence and/or to help show support for victims and survivors. This year’s theme for the CNMI is “Engaging All Voices.”

Air Force, Navy to conduct training at FDM, W-517

ASAN, Guam—The Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla April 17-21 from 9am to 6pm.

The Navy will also conduct training at Warning Area 517 (W-517) during the following dates and times:

• April 19 from 10am to noon

• April 20 from noon to 4pm

The general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear of the areas during the dates and times indicated.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 12-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. Farallon de Medinilla plays a special and unique role in national defense because its location provides frequent access that supports established training requirements. In addition, the air and sea space in the Farallon, located in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, provide sufficient room to conduct the many training profiles required to support aircrew combat readiness requirements.

During the dates and times indicated for W-517, Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank are not open for public use. W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. W-517 is contained within the following coordinates: 13° 10″N/144° 30″E, 13° 10″N/144° 42″E, 12° 50″N/144° 45″E, 11° 00″N/144° 45″E, 11° 00″N/143° 00″E, 11° 45″N/143° 00″E, 12° 50″N/144° 30″E.

Singapore Air Force to conduct training in CNMI

ASAN, Guam—The Republic of Singapore Air Force will conduct training at the Saipan, Tinian, and Rota airports April 17-19 during daylight hours.

RSAF aircraft will use established approach air corridors at least 300-500 feet above ground during the dates indicated. Air corridors are air traffic control designated air routes of travel for use by aircraft.

Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the trainings.

Training sessions on ‘customer service’

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce and Island Training Solutions present “Customer Service Excellence” a training seminar that will be conducted on April 20, 2017, from 9am to 12pm at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce conference room (Marianas Business Plaza, third floor). The afternoon session will be from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Registration fee is $50 per person for Chamber members and $55 per person for non-members. Light refreshments are included.
