Free health screening on Easter Sunday

The US Pinoys for Good Governance Marianas chapter, in collaboration with the San Jose Parish church and Rev. Father Rey Rosal, will be hosting a free health screening on April 20, Easter Sunday, from 7:30am to 11am, at the San Jose Parish Social Hall. The free health screening includes blood pressure measurements, blood sugar tests, weight, height, and body mass index determinations. Those who would like to avail the blood sugar tests should refrain from eating and drinking liquids preferably 12 hours prior or at least 2 hours prior to the actual testing. (USP4GG)

JKPL sets book sale, rummage sale tomorrow

The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will hold a Book Sale and Rummage Sale tomorrow, April 19, 2014, from 7am to 12pm. Make extra cash by selling unwanted or unused items. Lots are at $25 for a 10×10 space and $50 for a 10×20 space. Spaces are limited so stop by the library and reserve one today. Fore more information, contact Celina C. Transfer Station, Marpi Landfill closed today

In observance of Good Friday today, April 18, 2014, the Lower Base Transfer Station and the Marpi Landfill will be closed all day. Regular schedule will resume on Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 7:30am to 11:30am, and 12:30pm to 4pm. Happy Easter Sunday! (PR)

31st Annual Islandwide Cleanup on April 25

The Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality’s 31st Annual Islandwide Cleanup for Environmental Awareness Month will be held Friday, April 25, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. New info on Marines relocation projects

PEARL HARBOR—New information regarding proposed projects in support of the military relocation to Guam is now available on the Cultural Information website at http://go.usa.gov/kZWG.

Comments on the assessment of effect within the specific project footprint will be accepted for 45 calendar days after the project is posted. The comment deadline for assessments of effects for the Utilities and Site Improvement Mass Grub and Grade, Phases 1 and 2 (PA Memo #1) is June 2, 2014 (Chamorro Standard Time).

Those without internet access may obtain a hard copy from the Guam Historic Resources Division, located at 490 Chalan Palasyo, Agana Heights, 96910 (in the Department of Parks and Recreation Office). (USN)

PH Consulate to hold outreach on Tinian, Saipan

The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, in cooperation with the United Filipinos Association on Tinian, will conduct mobile consular services on Tinian, from May 9 to 10, 2014, at the Tinian Room of the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.

The consulate will also conduct similar mobile consular services on Saipan, this time with the help of the United Filipino Organizations, from May 12 to 15, 2014, at the Daidai Social Hall of the Mount Carmel Cathedral. (PR)

Notice to Saipan Marathon runners

All runners in the Saipan Marathon are reminded to pick up their race packet information and bibs on Friday, April 18, from 4pm to 6pm at the American Memorial Park amphitheater. Registration will not be accepted. (PR)

Red Cross health and safety trainings

The American Red Cross is scheduled to conduct Preparedness Health & Safety training on the following dates:

* Tues., April 22, at 6pm: Infant & Child First Aid/CPR/AED (second session continues Wednesday)
* Tues., April 22, at 6pm: Infant & Child CPR/AED
* Wed., April 23, at 6pm: Standard First Aid

The Commonwealth Cancer Association’s board of directors will be holding its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 3pm at the CCA conference room.
