The early bird registration deadline for this Saturday’s 8th Annual Marianas Coffee Trail Run is on Thursday with the race featuring some of the greatest views and most challenging terrain in the CNMI.

Participants are reminded to get their registration forms and pay fees at Marianas Visitors Authority’s office by 5pm this Thursday to qualify for the early bird fees: $10 for ages 12 and under, $15 for ages 13-18, and $25 for ages 19 and up. An additional $10 will apply after the early bird deadline. Entry fees include a finishers t-shirt, certificate of participation, and entry to the awards banquet on race day at 1pm. Applications are now downloadable under the EventsCalendar at www.mymarianas.com.

Cash awards will be given to the Top 3 overall male and female finishers in both the long course and short course. A num-ber of raffle prizes will also be given away. Course lengths are 10K and about 20K.

The race is sponsored by Marianas Coffee Co., MVA, KFC Triathlon Club of Japan, and Team PDI. Select prizes are also donated by Hyatt Regency Saipan. Other sponsors are: Aqua Resort Club, Saipan World Resort, Yano Enterprises, Inc./ Kinpachi Restaurant, Avis Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Dept. of Public Safety, and Div. of Parks and Recreation.

Starting at sea level at the American Memorial Park, the Marianas Coffee Trail Run heads up 1,500 feet to the highest point of the island and goes around the summit of Mt. Tapochau before heading back to AMP. Sites along the way include Japanese-era coffee plantations and the Marianas Coffee Co. plantation.

“Preparations are being finalized for what we expect will be another amazing Marianas Coffee Trail Run on Saturday,” MVA community projects Manager Martin Duenas said.

Show time and late registration on race day is at 5:30am, with the race starting at 6:30am.
