Twenty-nine law enforcers were honored at the National Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony at the newly renovated Department of Public Safety Complex in Susupe last Friday.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said: “Today we honor those that left us in the line of duty and we will never forget them.”

DPS Commissioner Robert A. Guerrero explained that they relocated the DPS monument from the parking lot in front of DPS to a garden next to the former Superior Court because “this should be a sacred place, where only our employees and officers, but even family members can come and visit a solemn place that remembers and commemorates their love ones hard work during their tenure with the department and while serving our community,” Guerrero said.

Fallen DPS officers included Joaquin T. Mettao, Erlinse C. Santos, Abraham S. Quitugua, Gilbert M. Taisacan, Wilgene T. Lieto, Joe Charfauros Jr., Dwayne Stephen, Jesse K. Seman, Justino T. Arriola, Julian A. Manglona, Hilary Tagabuel, Edward M. Ayuyu, and John T. Barcinas.
