Herminia M. Fusco, whose four-year re-appointment to the council expires on April 21, 2016, will now serve as chair, replacing Jose T. Limes.

Limes’ spot on the council was filled by Mark O. Rabauliman, who was elected vice chair and will serve the council also until April 21, 2016.

The new secretary and Program Committee chair is Frank C. Villagomez, who was also re-appointed to the council to serve another four-year term expiring in 2016.

Soledad Tenorio, who was elected treasurer, replaces vice chair Frannie Tenorio and will also serve a four-year term. She is also the head of the Finance Committee.

Other council members are Anna C. Baer and Paz C. Younis, whose terms will expire in December. Baer currently chairs the Policy Committee.

Executive director John Oliver Gonzales of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library expressed excitement that the new council is composed of members of the third generation of the Kiyu and Tenorio families, both of whom are the major donors of the CNMI’s state library.

“We are thrilled at the great combination of experiences and passion of these new members, which will help strengthen our public libraries into the 21st century,” he told Saipan Tribune.

According to Gonzales, having the new council members and officers on board is timely as they will mark the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s 20-year milestone in December.

“We need their leadership and guidance to ensure that all our public libraries will maintain the vast literary programs we offer and continue serving our patrons on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota,” he added.
