CNMI, Guam are exempt from the H1B Cap

On page 20 of the March 18, 2016, Saipan Tribune, I read an article, “USCIS will accept the H-1B petitions for FY’ 17 beginning April 1.” Please be informed that the information contained in that article does not apply in the CNMI and Guam; we are exempt from the H1B cap, at least until Dec. 31, 2019 (see Public Law 110-229)

I just filed an H1B in January and it was approved. The employee will be coming this month.

Bottom line, don’t wait until April 1 to file your H-1B petition. You can do it when you need an employee who meets the H-1B requirements—at least until Dec. 31 , 2019.
