“It’s doing what we’re very good at doing, which is basically a night of great entertainment and fun. …[That] is what Club C is all about,” said Ben Lee, chief executive officer of Strategic Gaming Solutions, Inc.

Members of the Legislature, government agencies, Saipan Chamber of Commerce officers and members, and various companies were present.

“It was very, very good. They all enjoyed themselves,” Club C general manager Peter Stewein said.

Stewein said they wanted to show their gratitude to the people who has been with them before and after they opened. “It’s nice to let people know you’ve been around for a year but it’s also a thank you,” he added.

“The first is always difficult,” Stewein said.

“The first year we had our challenges as with any in business,” Lee said.

For the coming year for Club C, Lee said they still expect to stay in business despite the stiffer competition.

“We expect to be impacted by the coming competition,” Lee said. “However, we are also confident that we can weather the competition and we expect that we will still be here when others come and go.”

Lee believes what they have is a sustainable business model, which can survive whether or not the market is very good.

However, Lee also added that they are holding off some of their future investment such as Club C 2 and Club C 3, as what “any wise and reasonable businessmen will.”

“The playing field conditions appear to change all the time, which does not make for a very conducive and healthy investment,” Lee said.

“In light of the investment criteria and the operating criteria changing, the investment decision is not looking as certain, not looking as black and white as it was when we first opened,” he added.

Despite this, Lee said they will still continue with present investments.

“We’ll definitely continue Club C,” he said.
