Class of ’94 offers 2 Knight scholarships

The Mount Carmel Class of 1994 is offering two scholarships for school year 2015-2016.

Dubbed the “94 Scholarship,” any student who is enrolled as a junior at any school in the CNMI for this school year, 2014-2015, is eligible to apply by answering the question, “What Makes You THE ONE?”

Essays must be an original piece in written, audio or video format. Applicants must also have cumulative scores of 87 percent or higher; or a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; and submit a completed application form. Only electronic submissions of the essays and application forms will be accepted at mcsclassof1994@gmail.com.

According to class president Manny Ramon, the intent of the award is to encourage more students to experience the excellent academic and Catholic education offered at MCS.

“Our senior year is one of the most memorable times as a teenager and I’m hoping two students will also develop a sense of pride of being a MCS Knight as they complete their senior year.”

Fellow alumKnight Richard Santos adds, “We are pleased to offer this opportunity to two students for their final year at MCS. I know that I look back at my education with fond memories.”

“This is a great gesture. Thank you to the 1994 AlumKnights for their continued support of their alma mater,” said Galvin Deleon Guerrero, MCS president.

Essays will be based on creativity, commitment to service, leadership, and sense of purpose. A written essay must be at least 1,994, but not more than, 2,250 words. An audio or video essay must be recorded, between 5 and 9.4 minutes, and submitted via YouTube link.

The awardees will each receive $1,994 toward their school tuition. Other costs associated with enrolling and graduating are not included. Applications are due by Thursday, April 30, 2015, 11:59pm Chamorro Standard Time.
