Clarence Tenorio Sr., co-owner of Joeten Enterprises and a stalwart in the local business scene, will be the marshal of the 2017 Liberation Day parade.

According to Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang, the marshal position is given to a person who has diligently served the island of Saipan.

Apatang told the Saipan Tribune that government officials usually fill the marshal position because of their service but, for the first time in Liberation Day history, a businessman will lead the parade on July 4.

Tenorio is the second generation of Tenorios to run Joeten Enterprises. He is the eldest of six.

As a young boy, Tenorio found joy in helping his mother and father run their small mom-and -pop store. He is still amazed at how much it has branched out in the span of his lifetime.

Described as a kind, simple, and outgoing man, Tenorio still runs the company with his siblings, guiding the third generation of Tenorios.

According to Apatang, Joeten Enterprises was one of the first business establishments on Saipan. It was the first business of its kind and paved the way for more entrepreneurs to take the leap and to start their business.

Joeten Enterprises has also given back to the community in more ways than one.

Tenorio told Saipan Tribune that this is their way of giving back to the community that has helped his family’s company become what it is today.

Tenorio’s favorite part of co-running his family’s business is the people he has met over the years.

Tenorio is beyond honored that the committee chose him to lead the parade this July 4.
