The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently donated two laptop computers, a color laser printer, and toner cartridges to the U.S. Veterans Association in Pohnpei, which serves as an advocacy, liaison, and lobby group for veterans’ interest and benefit.

According to a church news release, the computer and printer are for administrative use to support veterans in Pohnpei, along with training high school students in preparation to take the military exam, known as ASVAB.

The church said it is always on the lookout for opportunities to partner with non-profit organizations, sometimes helping them to get their feet on the ground, and this donation will be an indispensable source of information that can be helpful for prospective enlistees prior, during, and after service in the U.S. Armed Forces.

USVA has 102 registered members in their organization with the number increasing as veterans return to Pohnpei after retirement or ETS (Expiration of Term of Service) from the U.S. Armed Forces.

The purpose of organizing US Veterans of Pohnpei into an association is to be recognized by the FSM national government, Pohnpei state government, and the U.S. government to serve as a community outreach resource and information center in the State of Pohnpei for men, women, and youth seeking opportunities in the U.S. Armed Forces.
