Sunday marks the beginning of the holiday season in the CNMI.

CNMI first lady Diann Torres and Wella Palacios are inviting the community to the 2019 Christmas Village Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 1, 6:30pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

The project is a brainchild of the Lady Diann Torres Foundation.

This is going to be the event’s third run, where about 30 Christmas Village cottages built by private companies and government offices will be lit, along with the Christmas tree.

For the past two years, the Christmas village has been raising the holiday spirit on the island, bringing joy and laughter to children, and much-needed relaxation for parents.

“I did it already for two straight years as first lady. We turn the two yards into a mini-village, and we have our partner agencies sign up and build their own themed houses,” Torres said in an earlier interview. “Private companies and some of the government offices will each have their own.”

“At the opening, we want everybody to go all out. Some will stay in their little house and give out candies [and] fun stuff,” Torres added.

Spread the Christmas spirit and bring families and friends! For more information, email ladydianntorres@gmail.com or call (670) 235-5383.
