Northern Marianas National Paddle Sport Federation will be hosting the Choose Your Weapon Summer Series this month, offering both standup paddling and outrigger canoe races.
A brain child of NMNPSF vice president Dino Manning, the series will take place on June 8, 15, and 29.

The first leg will cover two miles for SUP, while a five-mile course is up in the V-1 (one-man) canoe race. For the June 15 races, SUP will have a distance of three miles, while the V-1 will be a seven-mile event. Entry fees for each of the first two legs are $10.

Then for the final leg, which will be the championship, participants in the SUP will cover four miles, while paddlers in V1 race will navigate a 10-mile course. Entry fee is $15.

Paddlers will get points in each leg, depending on how they will place in the races. More points will be awarded in the championship leg and NMNPSF will be giving cash prizes to the overall top finishers in six categories: open men and women SUP, open men and women V1, 16 and under SUP, and 16 and under V1. A separate course for youth will be announced later.

The first leg of the series next week will be held in the waters off Kilili Beach with check-in at 7am and race time at 8am, while venues for the last two have yet to be determined.
