The World is Fun and Dalian Morning television programs and World Travel magazine all covered the festival, which traditionally brings some of the best of island cuisine and entertainment to American Memorial Park each Saturday during May Tourism Month.
The World is Fun is produced by Hunan TV, the most popular and influential TV station next to CCTV in China and the Chinese-speaking world.
“While The World is Fun was filming at Taste of the Marianas, a number of Chinese tourists and residents recognized the hosts, Wei-Jia Li and Xiao-Ya Wang, and asked for their autographs or to have photos taken with them,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “Having celebrities such as these visit the Northern Marianas will help promote the islands and hopefully generate interest among more production teams to come for film or photography missions [that] display our destination.”
The World is Fun will feature a 20-minute segment on the Northern Marianas. Dailan Morning offers travel information and recommendations and is the top-rated broadcast for its time slot in the city of Dailan (population 6 million-plus). World Travel has a circulation of 30,000 among the middle and high-end market.
The media also visited Moby Dick, Country House Restaurant, Hyatt Regency Saipan’s White Sand Chapel, seafood dinner at Fiesta Resort & Spa, Sabalu Market, Capricciosa Restaurant, Tony Roma’s, and a dinner cruise aboard the Jade Lady. The show also filmed marine sports on Managaha, a jungle tour, and activities with Marianas Trekking. (MVA)
