The CNMI Chinese Community’s Goodwill Fundraising event successfully raised $1,000 last Saturday at the Kanoa Resort and the money will be donated to the Maturana Foundation for its building renovation.
The fundraising was the perfect opportunity for individuals and businesses to connect with each other in raising funds for a common purpose while giving back to the CNMI Chinese community as well as the local community.
Saipan Chinese News publisher Betty Bai said that several overseas Chinese-owned companies, along with others within the community, initiated the fundraising activity to promote unity within the local Chinese community and cultivate a spirit of solidarity in the CNMI.
The funds raised will serve the CNMI Chinese community’s vital immigration interests as well as to launch goodwill programs to help improve relationships with the local community.
Bai said that about 15 of the CNMI’s Chinese business owners contributed a total of $1,000 for Maturana and presented the amount to Sister Martha and Sister Mary of Maturana.
The 15 include An Hao Corp., Alter City Group, Century Tours, Huangshun Corp., I Love Saipan, Kevin Store, Lucky De, Pretty Tour, Pure Spa, QQ Car Rental, Sterling Corp., Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino, Twins Market, U.S, Fanter General Contractor Construction Corp., and XO Supermarket.
Bai said the rest of the money raised will be put into a trust fund.
“We did the fundraiser by selling $25 a ticket per person that made it to $1,000,” she said.
