“Unbelievably crystal blue” is how one media outlet describes the underwater scene at Grotto on Saipan.

Taiyuan TV’s “Discovery” program and Modern Bride magazine of China were on Saipan on March 21-24, 2014, to explore sights and sounds both above and below water. Popular dive spot Grotto, an underwater cavern with channels leading to the open sea, was just one of the stops on their busy itinerary.

“Discovery” took several tours during their visit: ATV, submarine, island, jungle, and American Memorial Park. Modern Bride magazine had wedding shoots at Mariana Resort & Spa chapel, Laolao Bay Golf Resort, Tank Beach, and Mt. Carmel Cathedral. Additional shoots were held at Ladder Beach and Agingan Point. Both groups also covered marine sports on Mañagaha.

Some of the media also went diving at Grotto and Laulau Beach.

“At Laulau Beach they were at the bottom of what they called a ‘fish storm’ and said the view was beyond description,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “This is just one example of the world-class experience Saipan, Tinian, and Rota have to offer visitors on a daily basis.”

The two media outlets met at several dining outlets to share meals during the tour, including Isla Café, 360 Revolving Restaurant, Kanoa Resort Barefoot BBQ, Pacific Islands Club Saipan Galley, and Fiesta Resort & Spa. Accommodations were provided by Hyatt Regency Saipan. (MVA)
