Four childcare providers on Saipan participated last Aug. 13, 2022, in child development training on the required health and safety topic, Child Development.

Held at the Evergreen Learning Training Center in Chalan Kanoa and handled by Evergreen Learning’s quality care specialist, Maricar I. Pena, the two-hour session on the topic of child development gave participants an understanding of the natural abilities young children are born with that help them make sense of the world they live in. In addition, participants were able to identify the four developmental domains and learn why these domains should be recognized and fostered in a childcare setting through interaction, engagement, and planned activities.

The Childcare Reauthorization Act of 2014 requires that all Childcare Development Fund Program childcare providers must complete preservice training requirements in 12 health and safety topic areas before they are allowed to be left alone to supervise young children. The topic of Child Development meets one out of the 12 required trainings on health and safety. (PR)
