MEN’S

SaiPal 20, Manelos 13
Manelos led it, 6-4, after the opening frame off four hits and a couple walks. It loaded the bases, which set the stage for a two-RBI single from Yupert Alepuyo and three-run homer from Nicko Martin. Ping Santos also bagged an RBI single.

SaiPal then seized the lead, 7-6, in the second inning with four more hits. Leo Bobai cranked a two-RBI single.

Manelos came back with three runs in the third inning from a base hit by Nick Cruz and a triple by Santos, but stumbled on the field in the bottom frame, helping SaiPal pedal in front, 13-9. SaiPal capitalized on Manelos’ early errors and had five hits including slew of RBI base rips by Luis Ngiraikelau, Alonzo Besong and Lefty Shiro and a two-RBI triple by Hector Ephraim.

SaiPal then contained its opponents to just a couple runs in the next two innings and was declared winner after five innings due to time constraints. Saipal poured on its other seven runs in the top of the fifth with a cheeky grand slam by Gloyd Martin in between some more errors.

Familia 16,
Talu Fahn 7

Familia marched ahead, 6-0, in the first inning off a three-run blast by JD Dikito, an RBI base hit by Lawrence Dikito, and a two-RBI single by Joe Guerrero.

Talu Fahn shaved three runs off the deficit in the bottom of the second from errors and a two-RBI smash by Nathan Bermudes and the count shifted to 8-5 after the fourth frame.

A two-run homer by Familia was thwarted by errors, but it regrouped in the fifth inning with seven hits for a commanding 14-5 lead. Kolin Reyes ripped an RBI single and John Guerrero and Jack Sablan each cranked two-RBI base hits.

Gagu Eye’s Swain Cango and Brel left the yard at the start of the fifth inning and managed three more runs in the sixth from an error and two-RBI base rip by Omar. But Berdax still held strong for the win with its last two runs coming off an error and an RBI base knock by Franco Flores. The group then pulled it together on defense for the last three outs.
